Samuel Chukwueze Biography
Samuel Chukwueze Chimerenka ChMON is a professional football player from Nigeria. He was born on May 22, 1999, and plays right wing for AC Milan in Serie A and for the Nigeria national team. He was born in Abia State’s Amaokwe Ugba Ibeku.
He was born into a Christian family and has an Igbo background. He has a younger brother and a younger sister. He went to Evangel Secondary School and Government College Umuahia.
He began playing football when he was eight years old, and Jay-Jay Okocha and Arjen Robben were his football heroes when he was younger.
Samuel Chukwueze Club Career
Villarreal
In 2017, Chukwueze moved from Diamond Football Academy in his home country to join Villarreal CF’s successful youth program. At first, he was put with the club’s Juvenil A team.
On April 15, 2018, he made his senior debut with the reserves, coming on as a replacement for Sergio Lozano in the second half of a 1–1 Segunda División B away draw against CE Sabadell FC. Chikwueze scored his first adult goal on May 20, 2018, in a 3–2 loss at Bilbao Athletic. It was the second goal for his team.
He played 11 games and scored two goals in his first season, but his team missed out on promotion in the play-offs. For the 2018–19 UEFA Europa League season, Chukwueze made his first-team debut on September 20, 2018, when he came on for Nicola Sansone in a 2–2 home draw against Rangers.
He also played his first full 90-minute game in La Liga on November 5, 2018, in a 1–1 home draw against Levante for the 2018–19 season. He was named African Football Federation’s 2018 Young Player of the Year in April 2019.
On April 12, 2022, Chukwueze scored the equalizer in the 88th minute in the second leg of Villarreal’s quarterfinal match against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
This sent Villarreal to the tournament’s semifinals. On April 8, 2023, Chukwueze scored two goals and set up another in a 3–2 away win over Real Madrid.
AC Milan
AC Milan, a team in Serie A, stated on July 27, 2023, that they had signed Chukwueze to a deal that would last until June 30, 2028.
He scored his first goal for the club in a 3–1 Champions League loss at home to Borussia Dortmund on November 28. In the 84th minute of a 2–1 away win over Newcastle United on December 13, he scored the game-winning goal.
This helped his team finish third in their group and make it to the Europa League. They played Hellas Verona in Serie A on March 17. He came on as a replacement and scored the last goal in a 3–1 win.
It was his first league goal for AC Milan. In a league game on April 14, 2024, against Sassuolo, Chukwueze scored two goals, but both were called back for microoffsides.
